Image Library

This page contains resources that should allow you to build your image library quickly. Some of the links will download zip files of images, other links will take you to websites that have there own files for you to download. While at the bottom I do include links to galleries of images, the rest of the links are to resources that will allow you to download many images that have already been organized in someway.

The Two Big Starters

The CSUAC (http://halegaming NULL.com/):  It is a collection thousands and thousands of images that have already been categorized for easy access.

This is a link to a bit torrent file that was put together by a MapTool user. The collection contains thousands and thousands of images. Mapping Objects The images have been mostly catagorized.

Either of the two above collections will provide an excellent base image library. From there you can add in this and that from the below galleries and forums.

Below are links to galleries or forums with a huge number of useful images.

RPTools.net Gallery (http://gallery NULL.rptools NULL.net/main NULL.php) has thousands of images, textures, tokens, and maps that have been contributed by MapTool users.

RPGMapshare (http://www NULL.rpgmapshare NULL.com/) has many high quality images and maps available for many settings. I should note that RPGMapshare is one of the few sites that has many quality images for modern maps, as well as other settings.

Dundjinni Forums (http://www NULL.dundjinni NULL.com/forums/default NULL.asp) has an incredible selection of images and maps created by the Dundjinni software. Just do a search of the forums for whatever you are looking for and odds are several examples will pop up.

387+ Maps (http://www NULL.dungeonmastering NULL.com/tools-resources/387-free-dd-maps) is a collection of links to over 387 D&D maps.  They are from various time periods and styles, so some are old school basic and others are more detailed.

WOTC has supplied the artwork from their monster books and minis to the public for non-commercial use. Below are the images broken down into the book or collection they came from. Thanks to lmarkus001 for supplying those to me. For those of you running fantasy games, just drop these images into TokenTool (http://rptools NULL.net/doku NULL.php?id=tokentool:intro)to create a token of any monster you might want in seconds.

Once I have the CSUAC files set up in my directory, is there a way to make them size properly?

    • brad says:

The size of images when you first drag them out will vary depending on what resolution you set MapTool at. The range people pick is typically somewhere between 50 and 200. The CSUAC images cover that range well. You just have to click and drag to get the image to the exact size you want it, once you drag it onto the map.

      • Kendall-DM says:

That’s what I figured, but I was hoping I could set them at a standard size they would always appear on the map as. Much like you can do with creature sizes, or in CC3. No problem though. Thanks for the reply!

How do you import the .rar files from CSUAC into maptool? I tried the “add resources to library” and clicked on the folder with the downloaded file, but that didn’t do it.

  3. Eleos says:

Are there sci-fi (space) settings or monsters in any of these image lists?

  4. Kevin says:

Are the two “Big Starters” open for commercial use? Or only non-commercial?

    • brad says:

The CSUAC has an license included in it that I believe is a non-commercial use thing. The torrent is made up from someone going to a bunch of different sites and downloading and semi-organizing it all. So, I am sure that it is a mix of non-commercial and commercial ok stuff, but no way to tell what is what.

Oh wow, I did not even notice the eula pdf on the page. But it seems you are right. Quoted in the restrictions section from said PDF: (d) to use the CSUAC Art Collection or the images within the art pack to create a database or as material for a mapping program or application except for your own private use.

*sigh* I guess the torrent would be too risky as well since it’s unknown. Ugh, they had a lot of nice art too! Ah well. Thanks for responding nonetheless!

Seems a bit rich to think they’d do all the work to produce it, then offer it to you for free… so you could sell it for the exact same purpose they were doing for free?

Is there a good repository of texture images that we can download? I noticed that there are 5-6 in the downloadable system, but I would like to expand my library.

    Thanks!

Yep. There are a bunch in the CSUAC. Also in the RPTools.net gallery people have made some. My gallery there is actually mostly textures I made from digital pictures. The CSUAC stuff I usually had to re-size.

I found the CSUAC on the same website linked to above, but it’s now on the base index page. Just go to http://halegaming.com/ (http://halegaming NULL.com/) and it’s all there. I just finished downloading it.

Howdy – I’m the site owner of Hale Gaming and hopefully the issues with downloading the CSUAC Archives had been resolved months ago – if not I need to know about it. No one has said anything since the last round of repacking was done.

    • Halifex says:

I downloaded a ton of stuff earlier today. No issues so far.

For “CSUAC: Baseline 2 – Equipment & Weapons [4/4]“, any time I click the “download” button, it just displays a page with a bunch of character garbage. It won’t actually let you download the file.

Try right-clicking an chosing “save link as” and save it as the proper type, I had to do that once with a .rar file.

Also, I have uploaded a .torrent file for the Fiend Folio images, I am seeding it, please download and seed also.
